One World Week

What is One World Week?

The Aim of the Coventry University Students' Union One World Week is

  • to inform staff and students of the rich diversity of cultures across the University campus
  • to educate people about histories of the world which are reflected through the range of experiences and origins of those studying and working within our community.

What we do?

The Students’ Union at Coventry University organise a variety of different events throughout the week, encouraging students through various sports clubs, societies and as individuals to get involved. There are usually a variety of films, dance acts, musicians and political debates and performances, showing off traditions from across the world.

In the past acts have included a variety of dances, musicians, cuisine, sports events and political debates, educating students and staff at Coventry University about the cultures and backgrounds from which our student population represent.

How to get involved?

One World Week is a celebration of the different cultures and ethnicities which enrich our lives and remind us of the challenges and the problems facing the wider world today.

When did One World Week Start?

The concept of One World week was created by students at Warwick University back in 1995. Originally, the event was designed to be for just one day, but due to its success and the dedication of student volunteers, the event has increased in size and prestige. Now One World Week is celebrated across the country at various Universities and has become the largest student-run international event.
